SERVICE DETAILS
Insert molding uses some type of preformed part, typically metal, that is loaded into an injection mold where it will be over-molded with a thermoplastic resin to create a finished part. These types of systems can be used to over-mold electrical terminals, screw inserts, weld tabs, etc. Systems will utilize part feeding equipment to introduce parts for loading into the injection mold, and most will have some post mold inspections to verify that a good part was produced during this process.
Fully-automatic assembly systems are used in processes where all parts being assembled for a finished product are introduced to the system, using specific types of feeding equipment. The introduction of these parts to each station can occur using vibratory feeders, robotic vision picks, etc. These systems typically use monitoring processes to verify the correct assembly of the complete part.
Semi-automated assembly systems are implemented when components used for the final assembly need to be introduced by an operator. Criteria that will dictate these type of systems include; parts that are difficult to orient/feed automatically, parts that have surfaces that cannot be scratched, or sometimes large, bulky parts. These systems typically use monitoring processes, as the full automatic cells, to verify the correct part assembly.
